Some of you will already know that the new non-profit No Impact Project exists to help people choose lifestyle adaptations that are both better for them and better for the planet. In other words, it takes a benefit-based approach (rather than a deprivation-based approach) to environmental living.
The No Impact Project also provides non-partisan tools to help people ask their politicians--on both sides of the aisle--to step up to the plate and take care of the habitat we depend upon for our health, happiness and security. We firmly believe this is not a party political issue. It is a human issue.
But the exciting news is that the Huffington Post has partnered with the No Impact Project to launch the No Impact Week, starting on October 18, in which you can challenge yourself to substantially lower your impact for a week. The point is to see what you might learn about what makes for a good life that doesn't cost the earth and where our supply systems interfere with our freedom to choose to live happily and sustainably.
Sign up here! We're closing down on 2,000 participants already. Join them! When we get closer to the date, we'll supply you with an online guide and all the other tools you'll need to try it out.
The great news is that you can do it anywhere and that we'll be setting up a robust online community where you can share your experiences and ask for tips. So sign up and get ready!
Meanwhile, you can watch our video--produced 100% by volunteers with no budget, no time and no impact--to see a little more:
First off, sorry I've been a little inactive on the blog lately. So many talks to give! But speaking of talks, I wanted to let you know that I'll be giving one right here on the blog on Sunday, Oct 11 at 5PM EST.
I'll be using this really cool technology called Vokle which will allow me to take questions too. Too watch, all you need to do is show up here at the blog (or you can embed the viewer in your own blog and have your own readers watch there by clicking "share" below).
If you want to ask questions, you need to register and you need to have a video cam on your computer. To listen without asking questions, just show up here on Sunday at 5PM EST.
