Dear commenting community--
You guys are the lifeblood of this blog. You help me so much that I want you, as a group, to stick around and keep me honest. For that reason, there are guidelines for discussion (see towards the top on the left hand side of the main page).
In the interests of great conversation, I hope we can avoid hostility. This is a discussion of ideas. Ideas stop flowing when we start name calling or casting personal aspersions on other commenters (or even on me for that matter).
Also, there are some commenters who come in under different names to support their own arguments. As good as their comments may be, I'm not clear that practice facilitates good, honest discourse. So, if you choose a pseudonym please keep it consistent over the course of time.
Again, I really value all your comments. I just want to make sure there is space and safety for people who are not used to commenting on the web, who may well have something valuable to add, and that we can avoid getting distracted from an important discourse by needless acrimony.
Thanks so much and have a great weekend!
